Upcoming legislative event

On behalf of the student academy of audiology ohio organizations

"Good afternoon! I want to bring your attention to a wonderful advocacy opportunity coming this spring. On Wednesday April 11th at the Ohio statehouse, we will host a National Day at Your State Capitol Day (NDAYSCD) event during which all SAA chapters in the state of Ohio will come together to advocate for the profession of Audiology and the patients we serve. This event is similar to our annual advocacy trip to D.C., however, it is orchestrated on the state level. Other states across the nation have hosted a NDAYSCD event in conjunction with our parent organization, the American Academy of Audiology, but this has never been done in the state of Ohio. I highly encourage you to consider taking part in this pioneering event. Topics of discussion will include Audiology assistants, Medicaid expansion in Ohio, and introducing the profession of Audiology and the role we play in supporting the health of our communities. Multiple speakers will address the group prior to meetings with legislators. Those interested can expect the event to span the early morning to early afternoon."

The Ohio Academy of Audiology recognizes that our members need support to navigate the many changes facing audiology and we're committed to offering the resources necessary for you to be successful.  Mark your calendars now! The 9th Biennial Ohio Audiology Conference (OAC) is coming early to help you thrive in a changing climate.  AAA2019 is coming to Columbus in March 2019 when we would normally hold an OAC.  So, in the spirit of embracing change, we are not only adapting to this disruption, we are making it our theme!

This year's OAC, Unconventional Audiology: Discovering Opportunity, is happening at a new time (October 26-27, 2018), in a new location (Northeast Ohio) with a new format (single, cohesive track).  This will be an UNconvention: unconventional approaches to familiar problems, identifying opportunities for professional growth in a changing environment, and thinking outside the (test) box.  You can't afford to miss this meeting!

Change is inevitable, but this year's OAC will prepare you to think creatively and unconventionally and offer you strategies to implement immediately in your practice.  Plus. we will be offering 0.2 hours of ethics - right in time to fulfill your ethics requirement at the end of the licensing year.
